Kyle Alan Hobbs is a Bellingham-based songwriter and multi-instrumentalist crafting cosmic country with a psychedelic twist. Born in Memphis, Tennessee, and raised between Florida and California, Hobbs’s musical journey mirrors his nomadic path through life—restless, exploratory, and deeply rooted in American sounds.

Though his early exposure to music was limited, Hobbs was always “that singing kid,” humming hooks and harmonies before he knew what they meant. His musical awakening began in the early 2000s with the ska and punk revival, evolving through indie rock phases in high school and experimental deep-dives during college at San Diego State University. From jamming with roommates to cutting his teeth on bass in an after-school jazz band, Hobbs gradually built his voice as a self-taught musician, eventually exploring everything from electronic music to ambient soundscapes.

While his influences span genres—J Dilla and Madlib’s sample-heavy production, Brian Eno’s ambient worlds, and the Beatles' timeless melodies—it was a slow-burning love for Sweetheart of the Rodeo by The Byrds that became a guiding star. That record, and the path it opened, led Hobbs to the heart of traditional country. Today, his music blends the haunted twang of Hank Williams with the heady swirl of Pink Floyd, chasing a sound that’s both reverent and revelatory.

Hobbs draws inspiration from legends like Gram Parsons, Merle Haggard, John Prine, Buck Owens, and George Jones—paying homage to the honky-tonk tradition while pushing its boundaries with atmospheric textures and cosmic storytelling.

Now based in Bellingham, Washington, Hobbs lives with his wife Cordelia and their two-year-old son, Lucas. He’s currently preparing to release his debut EP, Made This Way, in 2025.
